Michael T. Long Best Presentation, Best Impact Research and Best Innovative Ideas Paper Awards

Best Presentation,  Best Impact Research and Best Innovative Ideas Paper Awards in memory of Michael T. Long will be given to papers of outstanding quality presented at the TIS 2017 Congress. One award will be made in each category, and the awards are limited to papers that are included in the Congress proceedings. Award decisions are made by an Awards Committee formed among members of the TIS Scientific Committee or the wider research community.

Michael T. Long was the Project Delivery Manager for the Oregon Department of Transportation, Region 2, which includes 13,000 square miles of western Oregon. He managed a program that includes environmental, landscape and engineering design and construction, with a staff of 200 employees and 14 managers, with a construction program budget of over $500 Million. His primary responsibilities were to keep over 150 projects on time and under budget, and to coordinate issues with elected officials and the public. He was on assignment to the Director’s Office during the 2009 legislative session. He was an interdisciplinary team specialist, responsible for transportation route studies using air photo interpretation and on‑site investigations to locate stable transportation corridors for logging roads . Michael T. Long was the Chair of the Low-Volume Roads Committee AFB30, National Academies (NA), Transportation Research Board (TRB).

TIS Rome 2017 proceedings will be published by CRC Press/Balkema Taylor & Francis Group. The Publishers will send the Proceedings to Thomson Reuters (Web of Science) and Elsevier (Engineering Village, Scopus) for indexing purposes.
